Colorado Springs

What’s Hot In Town

WHY?! I am a hispanic teenager in Colorado Springs were judging is a popular thing its not like this city is so perfect. I am 16 and a very honest and responsible teenager and I probably have the highest education for a teen let me explain:

1)I have been working for three years at an Income Tax office and during the season I am perfered by the hispanic community
2)I have been working in accounting for two years and I havent had any complaints yet
3)I enrolled in a vocational program I studied in Radio and Television and now next year my senior year! I am taking more classes in TV and Radio and by may 08 when i graduate i will have my associates degree in radio and television broadcasting and i apply for news director anchor or a dj! no! joke!
4)I am bilingual in spanish and english i can perfectly read, write and speak both languages perfectly!

but because of my age well you know. so why is it so hard to get a job at wendys?! when convicts can get a job there so easily?!

I think with your motivation and ability, you should try to get a job that uses your bilingual ability. You could be a big asset to your Hispanic community in translating (dentist's and doctor's offices sometimes need them); you could have your parents sign a work permit (if it's needed in COS) and try to work at the airport, or even a hospital.

Don't let your age hold you back; you are only going to get older and wiser, it's anybody else's loss if they let you get away!

Obama’s mentor, the unrepentant domestic terrorist, Bill Ayers had a picture taken where he was stomping on The Flag. http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/August-2001/No-Regrets/
The Denver post published a report about how the 12,000 flags would have been disposed off as unceremoniously as can be.
http://www.allamericanblogger.com/3643/democrats-trash-12000-american-flags-republicans-recycle-them/

Republicans reported that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Before McCain spoke at an event, veterans hauled these garbage bags filled with flags out onto the stage — with dramatic effect, no doubt — and tell the story.

U.S Federal Code, Title 8, Section 4 deals with respect for the flag, obviously Obama could care less about mundane stuff like this:

Shows the patriotism of the democratic party don’t it??

Did you read this great news?

NEW YORK (CNN) — Hang on, the political thrill ride is about to begin. Are you ready? I know I am. And it's gonna be a hoot.

Our midterm elections are now two months away, and congressional, senatorial and gubernatorial campaigns are about to shift into high gear. After five weeks at home with their constituents, or at least some of them, our elected representatives are now back in session in Washington and fully armed with an understanding of the will of the people, ready to do the people's business.

Their first order of business? Why, to announce there will be no business done in this session of Congress on the critically important issues of border security and immigration reform. Can you feel the excitement?

Congressional and Senate Republicans have discovered that Karl Rove and his friend, President George W. Bush, not only don't have a clue when it comes to their favored "comprehensive immigration reform" plans, but also that Rove and Bush's alliance with open borders Democrats represents an axis of amnesty that their constituents simply won't tolerate.

Our do-nothing Congress and our do-nothing-right president aren't exactly wildly popular to begin with. And the Congressional Republican leadership has figured out that in closely contested races, any legislation approximating amnesty for as many as 20 million illegal aliens in this country will amount to wholesale defeat at the polls on November 7.

Even the pro-illegal alien and open borders lobby has finally arrived at the conclusion that the American people won't tolerate an illegal alien population demanding the same rights as American citizens. And the in-your-face enthusiasm of illegal aliens and their amnesty-advocate supporters has waned as the public understanding of the facts has risen.

This weekend, according to the AP, a pro-illegal alien rally in Los Angeles, California, drew fewer than 1,000 people, several hundred-thousand fewer than the rally held there just four months ago. In Phoenix, Arizona, where more than 100,000 illegal aliens and their supporters took to the streets in the spring, AP quoted organizers who estimated 5,000 showed up for a so-called labor solidarity march.

This trend was apparent all across the country this Labor Day weekend: AP reported only 3,000 people gathered in Chicago, Illinois. In San Francisco and Oakland the San Jose Mercury News reported crowds of only 3,000 and 2,500 respectively. And in Dallas, Texas, the AP reports only 500 people assembled for their demonstration. That's not exactly an overwhelming turnout.

But public knowledge of the costs of illegal immigration is overwhelming the propagandists of corporate America, ethnocentric special interests, the White House and President Bush's Democratic amnesty partners in the U.S. Senate.

The leaders of the nation's principal labor unions are obviously confused. They're now caught between trying to bolster their membership rolls by backing the Rove-Bush-Reid-McCain-Kennedy amnesty legislation and explaining to their existing members what they're doing to preserve the jobs and wage levels of American citizens. Add national labor leaders to the list of those simply out of touch with the will of the American people.

Labor leaders, Bush and Rove join Cardinal Roger Mahoney, the head of the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who all apparently believe the interests of the illegal alien population transcend the law of the land and the interest of the American people.

Mahoney is enjoying precisely the same success as his fellow elitists: The illegal alien lobby that had been declaring "Today we march, tomorrow we vote" at every rally has not produced a tangible increase in new voter registration anywhere in the country.

The open borders lobby and amnesty advocates had hoped to form a new voter bloc to sway elections, but the Associated Press reports there's no indication of a new voter boom in Los Angeles; Chicago; Denver, Colorado; Houston, Texas, or any other city that held large pro-illegal alien rallies only months ago. This weekend's fizzled marches not only failed to energize significant numbers of people to register to vote, but they also didn't even persuade them to show up.

The leadership of this do-nothing Congress is right to do nothing in support of "comprehensive immigration reform," which are simply code words for illegal alien amnesty, open borders and the national interest be damned.

I am training to run the Pike's Peak Ascent in Colorado Springs, CO., but I live on the East Coast. The Pike's Peak event is 13 miles long and covers approx. 7800 vertical feet. I'm a serious runner and have run marathons, half-marathons, 10 milers, etc. so I know how to train for the distance, but don't know how to simulate the lower oxygen levels found at high altitudes.

I've seen the hypoxic chambers that elite athletes use, but I'm not sure I can get regular access to one (or afford to buy my own!). I'm hoping there are other potential solutions.

I did that run a few years ago! (Coloradan)

An ex-professor at my school always claimed that the best way to train was to exercise at altitude but sleep at sea-level, and invented a chamber which athletes use at the Olympic training center here for this purpose. Unfortunately I don't know of an inexpensive way to do this for someone living at sea level.

Try to arrive here 7-10 days early, and stay somewhere where the altitude is comparable to where you will be running your race. This'll give your body time to adapt, and if you are one of the unfortunate people prone to acute altitude sickness, time to recover. You'll want to drink more water than normal upon arrival, eat more carbs, and get extra rest. Best of luck with your run, sorry I couldn't help.

So why would Bob Kearns, president of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association in Pagosa Springs, Colorado want to fine a homeowner $25a/day for displaying a peace wreath on their home? Especially considering that the HOA Board unanimously disagreed with him. After which he fired all of them. Read the story on Yahoo news.

Very sad….

Because Bob Kearns is a control freak. I have been familiar with the Loma Linda community fr quite a few years here in Pagosa and they have a history of wanting to control actions of the property owners for the "Good of the Community". If you think Loma Linda is bad, you need to come across town to the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association, they will fine you if you paint your house or even your front door a color that has not been approved by the association.

I am seeking advice for the financing of a bed and breakfast/lodge business. I have 10 acres of picturesque land in Park Co, Colorado. It is less than a mile to the border of Pike national forest, an hour's drive from skiing in Breckenridge, and about an hour from Colorado Springs.
Will a commercial loan work for the cost of building? Is there a way for a small business loan to cover costs of furnishing the building and marketing expenses to get started?

Check out the Small Business Administration web site — they're a great resource for the small business owner. I listed a couple of other handy links as well.

Try reading up on the subject — check out Amazon, your local bookstore or library.

Prior to investing your time, money & effort into a business name, it is strongly advised that comprehensive research be conducted to ensure that the name you're interested in is truly available.

This entails searching the pending & registered Federal and State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files. Then, if clear, you can decide if you would like to file for a Federal or a State trademark.

Research is needed to make sure your trade name is legally available, before opening, before expansion, before incorporation or before designing your logo. Similarities in sound, appearance and meaning affect you too!

There are 16+ million trade names in use in the United States. Similar names matter, if close in sound, appearance or meaning. Similar names in related classes, distribution channels and customer matter too. You are affected by Common Law use (14 million), State Trademarks (500,000) and Federal Trademarks (2 million).

Apparently, Democrats see the flag only as a prop to be discarded when the event was over.

The flags are on their way to a McCain Palin rally in Colorado Springs where the Boy Scouts and Veterans of Foreign Wars will distribute them to the GOP faithful.

I wouldn’t expect anymore from liberals.

That is what the radical extreme left has done to our party.

From CBS News’ Ryan Corsaro:

(COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.) - It might be surprising to some to learn that Sarah Palin is now talking to her national press corps more often than Joe Biden.

While the once silent Palin has taken questions from reporters that travel with her three times in the last week, Biden has not offered the same type of access to reporters who cover his every move on the campaign trail in almost two months.

As for comments that Biden made last weekend in Seattle about Obama facing an “international, generated crisis” in his first six months, Biden has said nothing more on the matter.

I guess when it gets so bad that SNL is making fun of Democrats it is pretty obvious that what he is saying is so out ther that it can't be ignored.
